What's Sinister about this Angel ?

Sandy aka 'Sinister Angel' has been earning much respect and making a name for herself both inside and outside the ring in the tough testosterone laden world of MMA fighting.

We take a look at this amazing lady and women's lightweight WFC champion who has truly been kicking ass from a very young age.

Born into a wealthy Californian business family Sandy Freer could have easily forged a career in Corporate America. However, from an early age Sandy showed signs of a talent suited for a career in a totally different sphere. She found herself suspended from school after coming to the attention of teachers for fighting, mostly with boys ! Despite this she went on to excel at school, majored in Law and set up her own business catering to the entertainment industry by the time she was 19.

Fighting and combat were always close to Sandy's heart studying weapons such as bow staff, nanchukus swords and firearms. She also enrolled in Tae Kwon Do and BJJ classes turning her into an accomplished and compatent all round action woman. It was through her martial arts activities that Sandy happened across a poster seeking fighters for an MMA event. This lead her to having her first MMA fight and also to the setting up of her own business selling and renting cages on the American MMA circuit.

To date Sandy has had three MMA fights and three victories, none has lasted more than two minutes. Her first was against Missy Carr which she took by KO in 1.20. The second was a victory over Kim Eden's by rear choke submission in 1.48. Her third victory which came on the same night was against Amanda Young by TKO in 43 seconds.

First fight against Misty Carr

Typical of the Sinister Angel's confidence and abilities were her victories over Kim Edens and Amanda Young. She had been due to face another opponent who did not show. Asked which of the other two ladies she would like as replacement, Sandy calmly sized up the options and said "both". She then went on to force a submission from Kim and won by TKO against Amanda.

Sinister Angel Sandy is also undefeated in competition at Ju Jitsu. On both occasions she has taken part in tournaments she has taken gold. One of the memorable wins for Sandy was against a lady she has nicknamed 'Tattoo Shezilla' In Sandy's words " She was awesome, built like a brick house. Her neck was as wide as her head...thick, arms like a mans leg." Sandy pinned her three times and took the decision after 5 minutes of grappling without submitting once. Her second gold came against a woman called Margaretta whom Sandy described as "a crazy, whinny red head". "She was a big girl too and in my face, I never said a word. She went on and I quietly met her in the ring. Seconds later, she tapped out by Rear Naked Choke".

The respect and esteem in which Sandy is held in the MMA world is reflected in the success of her business renting and selling cages and also the fact she is now a highly thought of competition judge. Sandy also sponsors fighters and has a number of agents acting for her company on the East and West coasts.

Injury has recently curtailed her activities in the squared circle, but she plans to defend her lightweight title inside one of her own cages on September 16th in Somerset, Kentucky. Her opponent, Carrie is a 2nd degree black belt in BJJ. Undaunted as usual Sandy says "I'm looking forward to it like Christmas"

When she enters the cage Sandy will take with her memories of her sister who tragically passed away from illness. The devastating news of her sisters illness reached Sandy as she was preparing for her first MMA fight. "I missed saying goodbye to her by two blocks. That day I vowed to pick up her torch; I fight for her now." We wish Sandy the best, a true angel with sinister intent only for those who wish to take her down.
